Parent and young adult with disability having a supportive conversation

Supporting Independence Without Taking Over

Parents & Carers Webinars are designed for families, carers, and supporters who want to better understand how to encourage confidence, independence, and self-advocacy without taking over. These webinars are educational and guidance-based only. They are designed to complement a participant's VoiceAbility journey — not replace program participation, individual support, therapy, counselling, legal advice, or formal assessment. Participant access and programme enrolments are managed through the main registration system.

Boundaries, access and next steps

Boundaries, Access and Next Steps

Parents and carers will receive general education, guidance, and practical ideas for supporting a participant's confidence and independence. Families and carers will not receive individual therapy or counselling, legal advice, participant assessment or certification, facilitator training, permission to deliver VoiceAbility programs, or access to act on behalf of a participant without appropriate consent. The webinars are designed to support, not replace, the participant's own pathway. Participants should be encouraged to make choices, speak for themselves where possible, and access the appropriate VoiceAbility registration pathway. VoiceAbility aims to make information accessible, inclusive, and easy to understand. Accessibility and language support may be requested where available.
