People with disability participating in VoiceAbility self-advocacy programs in Sydney
Our programs

Four streams. One curriculum. Your goals.

VoiceAbility's self-advocacy programs help people with disability develop the skills and confidence to speak up, know their rights, and make decisions that matter.

Our program streams

Four streams, one curriculum, your goals

Each VoiceAbility stream is built for a specific group of people with disability who share common barriers and learning needs. The five-module curriculum runs through every stream — but the facilitation style, examples, tools, and pace are adapted to each cohort. Group workshops, small group sessions, and one-on-one coaching are all used depending on what works best for you.

Stream 1

CALD communities

For people with disability from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Sessions use interpreters, visual supports, culturally safe examples, and group storytelling. Learning is adapted for collective decision-making patterns and different levels of system familiarity. Rights education is delivered in plain language with translated materials available.

Stream 2

Long-term unemployment

For people with disability who have been out of work for an extended period. Delivered one-on-one, with a strong focus on rebuilding confidence, understanding workplace rights, setting small employment-related goals, and practising communication in realistic workplace scenarios. Individual coaching and peer mentoring are embedded.

Stream 3

Housing insecurity

For people with disability who are at risk of homelessness or living in unstable housing. Sessions are short, flexible, and delivered in safe community spaces. Content covers housing rights, tenancy advocacy, financial literacy, and emotional safety. Facilitation is trauma-informed and adapted for people managing significant practical pressures.

Stream 4

Justice and reintegration

For people with disability who have had contact with the justice system and are reintegrating into the community. Sessions use predictable structure, visual tools, and non-shaming accountability. Content covers rights restoration, confidence building, and navigating community services after reintegration. Mentorship is a core component.

How we deliver

Group workshops, one-on-one coaching, peer support, and mentoring

VoiceAbility is not a one-size-fits-all program. Depending on your stream and what works for you, sessions may be delivered as group workshops, small group sessions, one-on-one coaching, or a mix of all three. Programs run onsite, online, or in community settings. Alongside the five modules, every participant has access to: • Monthly peer support groups — a facilitated space to connect with others, share experiences, and build your peer network. • Optional one-on-one mentoring — structured monthly sessions with a mentor who matches your goals, whether employment, housing, justice, or community participation. • Resource guides — rights guides, complaint templates, goal-planning tools, and service maps you can take home and use. No referral is needed. Just get in touch and we will match you to the right stream and delivery format. Call 0421 564 425 or email lorraine.salloum@abilityadvocates.com.au.
